russellville portrait photographer| ch-ch-ch-changes!

Welcome to 2011 at Amy Lowe Photography!

I have a lot of changes planned for this year, and I'm so excited about them!

Business wise:

a re-branding of my business ( I'm talking new logo, new packaging, new marketing... all streamline, and fabulous!)

a better commitment to my blog-site (I HAVE to be better at posting than I was last year- I will post every session that I do!)

putting more emphasis on senior, boudoir and newborn photography (these are some of my favorite sessions- I can't wait to do more!)

marketing my business better  ( there are too many things to list that are in my plans!)

being more involved in my community from a philanthropy state  ( I will be volunteering with some of my favorite community organizations!)

give back to other photographers   (I will share the things that I've learned, how I do things, share links from other photographers and give away freebies on a regular basis on my blog-site!)

purchasing new equipment  (I see a new prime lens, and possibly the coveted Canon 5D Mark ii in my future for this year!)

a new referral program  (details coming soon!)

Personally:

Our family will increase from 3 to 4 people as we welcome Baby Lowe in July.

I am going to make a huge effort to be more organized.

I always strive to be the best Wife and Mommy possible.... this will not be changing in 2011 :)

Here's a preview of my brand new logo....

Stay tuned for an amazing 2011 with Amy Lowe Photography!

russellville portrait photographer| vote for lacey blevins!!

I have known Lacey for a couple of years now. We met through some mutual friends at Chi Alpha. (Which meets on Monday's at 7:30pm in the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall on the Tech Campus.) She is so pretty, and has such a sweet, genuine spirit! Lacey has been nominated to be Arkansas Tech's Homecoming Queen!

Lacey was nominated by ATU Chi Alpha.  She is a second semester junior and is majoring in Early Childhood Education. Lacey is a beautiful young woman inside and out! If you want a homecoming queen who represents sincerity, honesty and most of all friendship--then vote Lacey!

She mentioned something on facebook about wanting some pictures to use for her campaign, and I was delighted that she contacted me! We did a mini-session so she could have a few images to use for her posters and fliers. Her Session only took a few minutes, and we had a great chat! (thanks again for the encouragement, Lacey!) Here are my favorites:

My fabulous hubby Jason, is a graphic designer!  He helped design my website, my logo, and a plethora of other design related things for my business.  He designed this poster (see below) for Lacey.  I know that I'm biased, but he does amazing work!  You can check out his website or his fb fan page.  He can do so many things- web, print, motion graphics, video editing, commercials, etc I promise that you won't regret using him for all your graphic design needs!

Hey Tech kids, don't forget to Vote Lacey, for your 2010 Homecoming Queen!!!

russellville portrait photographer| mine on monday

Oh faithful blog followers, how I have neglected thee! For this I am so sorry!  However with me being a wife, mommy, and having a job aside from this amazing photography business; this isn't the first time, and I'm sure it won't be the last....  My reason for lack of posts is a very good one, that's why I'm not calling it an excuse.  :)  My family and I moved- across town.  So, we packed. We moved.  We started unpacking.  Then, our best friends got married (Matt & Kerry's post coming soon).  Jason was a groomsman, I was a bridesmaid, and Jetta was the flower girl, so we were all very involved. That same weekend Jason developed an abscessed tooth, and Monday we spent all day in Little Rock getting it pulled. (and visiting his family in Cabot).  So most of last week, he was pretty much worthless with helping me around the house, and with Jetta.  THEN my mac decided to not turn on.  (my hard drives were not the problem, thankfully!) but something happened with the RAM, or the OS X, or something rather complicated, that Jason didn't want to take the time to explain to me.... but I'm using it as I type this, and it's as good as new.  (Thank you Jesus, for such an amazing hubby who's a know it all!)

So that brings you up to speed on what's been going on with me the last few weeks.  I've had so many sessions since my last post, I've really got to get caught up!  Because I plan on posting every session.  On top of posting the sessions, I'd really like to start doing blog posts on photography related things too... Each day of the week will have a different post theme:

mine on monday
tips for 'togs on tuesday
what to wear wednesday
thrifty bargains on thursday
fix it friday

I'm not going to do a post every day of the week, but my plan is to post on one of these at least once a week!  Today's post for instance, 'Mine on Monday' I'm going to feature my little girl, Jetta.  I found the most amazing field, and I just had to test it out with my favorite model! The grass and flowers are so tall- it made a gorgeous natural, earthy backdrop for the session. I'm not sure how much longer the flowers will be a live, so if you want to do a session in this field, you need to book your session a.s.a.p! Here are my favorites from Jetta's session:

It's so hard to get her to look at the camera!

This is what Jetta thinks about having her picture taken..... haha

Once again, I am so very sorry for the delay in my blog posts!  I promise to post more of my awesome sessions in a more timely manner!  Up next is Lacey's Homecoming Queen Nomination Mini-Session!   Happy Monday!

Well... it's Wednesday!  All of the college kids are starting their Fall semester of class at Arkansas Tech University today.  They've been invading Wal-Mart since the weekend, getting things that they need for their room, or class..... or in this small town, they might have just been there for something to do, or to meet guys/ girls.  haha  It seems like just yesterday that I was in their shoes.  SO excited about moving from the St. Louis area, to the Springfield, MO area....My plan was to make lots of new friends, excel within the Southwest Baptist University Music Department, meet the love of my life- get married...  oh, and getting a degree of some sort somewhere in there- at that point it was supposed to be a music education degree.  It's been 9 years since my Freshmen year of college, and BOY does that make me feel old!  My plans didn't pan out the way that I expected them to, but I've learned that God's plans always prevail, and they are ALWAYS better than anything that I have had in mind.  One of my favorite Bible verses is:
11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  Jeremiah 29:11-12

I encourage all of you college kids to dream big, make goals, and plan to always succeed, but don't forget that The Maker of the Universe has plans for you that are better than you'd ever imagine!
It was back to school for the public schools around here last week... I had several friends sending their babies off to preschool or kindergarden for the first time.  It's hard for me to believe that in a few short years that will be me.  Jetta is getting so big!  I know I say that all the time... and I'll continue to say- but it's because every time I say something about it, she's even bigger than the last time!  We were visiting my in-laws over the weekend, and Jetta wanted to go "ow-sye" so I put her in this new little zebra leggings attached to a red tutu, and grabbed my camera.  :) (this outfit will be available for your cute little girl to wear during a session!) We weren't able to stay outside very long because it was 185 degrees outside with a heat index of 227, but I got a few good images out of our time.  These are my favorites:

Yes, her headband lasted about 4 seconds.... I loooooove this one!   I'd also like to mention that her outfit cost me 25 cents!!Her answer is "wuh-ee!""Hi Daddy!!"

Natalie sent me a message on facebook and asked for details about doing a session with me of her family, before her husband Chris leaves for Army Basic Training.  He will be gone for TWELVE WEEKS(!!) and then he will get a duty assignment, and they will be relocating.    I just want to take a minute to thank all of our Service Men, Service Women, AND their Families who make sacrifices to keep our country safe!  I can't imagine what your life is like or how you make it apart going through basic, or deployments, etc.  Thank you from the very bottom of my heart- I pray that God keeps you safe and brings you home soon! Ok... back to the Tarte Family- we met downtown Dardanelle, and ended up at Counsel Oaks Park, which were both new places for me to shoot!  (I LOVE finding new locations) Natalie did a great job coordinating their outfits, and even though the heat index was well over 110 degrees during our session, they were troopers!  Here are my favorites from their session:

I had Mom and Dad turn on the AC in the car and stick the kids in there so we could get a few shots of just them.

I think this one is so sweet!

Storyboards are a great way to combine a few of your favorite images or a sequence of action images.

I love action shot sequences- it gives you a better emotional connection with the subject in the image.Emotion:  Determination.

Sam was going to stand up regardless of what surface we put him on!  Emotion:  Joy!

Hattie loves to jump- and she looks so cute when she does it!Emotion: Love.

There's nothing like a Daddy throwing his baby into the air and then kissing him.  Daddies and babies love it.

Storyboards can be purchased as an A La' Carte item for the cost of the size of the print + a $20 Design Fee.  Reminder that all A La' Carte products are 20% off with the purchase of a portrait collection!

In the last post, I shared pictures that I took of my sweet mother-in-law, and a few of my little girl, Jetta. This post is a continuation of it, and will showcase Jetta. These were taken at the end of May, and she had just turned 18 months old. Again, I loved the fields that Biscoe, AR had to offer! Since May, I have found a few places around Russellville that are similar, and would be awesome locations for a session! Here are my favorite images from Jetta's session:

My father-in-law and mother-in-law pastor an little church, in the small town of Bicoe, AR.  (halfway between Little rock and Memphis along I-40)   Biscoe is basically in the middle of no where.  It's surrounded by flat land, filled with fields of rich crops....and that's about it.  BUT those fields make a beautiful backdrop for images, as you'll see below.  Kathy, is the best mother-in-law, anyone could ever ask for!   When I was single, and praying about my future husband, I prayed almost as much to have great future in-laws.  Mom and Dad are so great!  They are probably the sweetest and most geniune people you will ever meet.  I'm SO grateful for them!  Mom (Kathy) had asked me to take some pictures of her and my daughter, Jetta the last time we were visiting.   She has lost a considerable amount of weight in the last couple of years, and I think that she looks amazing-  and not a day over 32!  Here are my favorites from her session:

Jetta.... where is Nanna's nose?We had to get PawPaw in some pictures too.

Thanks so much for all that you do for our family, and for everyone else around you, mom.  We love you!
