Well... it's Wednesday! All of the college kids are starting their Fall semester of class at Arkansas Tech University today. They've been invading Wal-Mart since the weekend, getting things that they need for their room, or class..... or in this small town, they might have just been there for something to do, or to meet guys/ girls. haha It seems like just yesterday that I was in their shoes. SO excited about moving from the St. Louis area, to the Springfield, MO area....My plan was to make lots of new friends, excel within the Southwest Baptist University Music Department, meet the love of my life- get married... oh, and getting a degree of some sort somewhere in there- at that point it was supposed to be a music education degree. It's been 9 years since my Freshmen year of college, and BOY does that make me feel old! My plans didn't pan out the way that I expected them to, but I've learned that God's plans always prevail, and they are ALWAYS better than anything that I have had in mind. One of my favorite Bible verses is:
11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:11-12
I encourage all of you college kids to dream big, make goals, and plan to always succeed, but don't forget that The Maker of the Universe has plans for you that are better than you'd ever imagine!
It was back to school for the public schools around here last week... I had several friends sending their babies off to preschool or kindergarden for the first time. It's hard for me to believe that in a few short years that will be me. Jetta is getting so big! I know I say that all the time... and I'll continue to say- but it's because every time I say something about it, she's even bigger than the last time! We were visiting my in-laws over the weekend, and Jetta wanted to go "ow-sye" so I put her in this new little zebra leggings attached to a red tutu, and grabbed my camera. :) (
this outfit will be available for your cute little girl to wear during a session!) We weren't able to stay outside very long because it was 185 degrees outside with a heat index of 227, but I got a few good images out of our time. These are my favorites:
Yes, her headband lasted about 4 seconds....
I loooooove this one! I'd also like to mention that her outfit cost me 25 cents!!
Her answer is "wuh-ee!"

"Hi Daddy!!"

Natalie sent me a message on
facebook and asked for details about doing a session with me of her family, before her husband Chris leaves for Army Basic Training. He will be gone for TWELVE WEEKS(!!) and then he will get a duty assignment, and they will be relocating.
I just want to take a minute to thank all of our Service Men, Service Women, AND their Families who make sacrifices to keep our country safe! I can't imagine what your life is like or how you make it apart going through basic, or deployments, etc. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart- I pray that God keeps you safe and brings you home soon!
Ok... back to the Tarte Family- we met downtown Dardanelle, and ended up at Counsel Oaks Park, which were both new places for me to shoot! (I LOVE finding new locations) Natalie did a great job coordinating their outfits, and even though the heat index was well over 110 degrees during our session, they were troopers! Here are my favorites from their session:

I had Mom and Dad turn on the AC in the car and stick the kids in there so we could get a few shots of just them.
I think this one is so sweet!
Storyboards are a great way to combine a few of your favorite images or a sequence of action images.
I love action shot sequences- it gives you a better emotional connection with the subject in the image.
Emotion: Determination.
Sam was going to stand up regardless of what surface we put him on!
Emotion: Joy!
Hattie loves to jump- and she looks so cute when she does it!
Emotion: Love.
There's nothing like a Daddy throwing his baby into the air and then kissing him. Daddies and babies love it.
Storyboards can be purchased as an A La' Carte item for the cost of the size of the print + a $20 Design Fee. Reminder that all A La' Carte products are 20% off with the purchase of a portrait collection!

My father-in-law and mother-in-law pastor an little church, in the small town of Bicoe, AR. (halfway between Little rock and Memphis along I-40) Biscoe is basically in the middle of no where. It's surrounded by flat land, filled with fields of rich crops....and that's about it. BUT those fields make a beautiful backdrop for images, as you'll see below. Kathy, is
the best mother-in-law, anyone could ever ask for! When I was single, and praying about my future husband, I prayed almost as much to have great future in-laws. Mom and Dad are so great! They are probably the sweetest and most geniune people you will ever meet. I'm SO grateful for them! Mom (Kathy) had asked me to take some pictures of her and my daughter, Jetta the last time we were visiting. She has lost a considerable amount of weight in the last couple of years, and I think that she looks amazing- and not a day over 32! Here are my favorites from her session:

Jetta.... where is Nanna's nose?

We had to get PawPaw in some pictures too.
Thanks so much for all that you do for our family, and for everyone else around you, mom. We love you!

I spent the afternoon with Matt and Kerry in Ft. Smith. We went all over town, and even though it was hot, we had a great time. Kerry used to work in Ft. Smith, so she knew TONS of places to utilize during the session. There were so many, that we didn't get to see them all. Russellville has some great places to do sessions, but I'm always excited to get to go somewhere new and different! These are my favorite images from Matt and Kerry's session:

Congratulations Matt and Kerry! I can't wait for your wedding!
